Straw Hats Pokemon League AU
I don't think I'm the first to do this by any means but here we go! I started thinking of how I'd make a One Piece AU in a Pokemon game format. I tend to play fairly fast and loose with the way the teams are structured; I like the thing they did in Gen 9 where gym leaders get a Pokemon not from their assigned type to terastallize but I would also like to see more gym leaders oriented around certain themes or gimmicks than just mono typing. These are not even remotely balanced and the few that have some strategy like Nami's can go wrong super easily; they're very very vibes-based. The region’s an archipelago, and all the crew members are friends who live and work on separate islands. I’ve always liked regions in Pokemon with lots of islands and water and I just feel like One Piece settings could translate well to that.
Grass Gym Leader Usopp– The Usopp pirates are his gym trainers/pupils, and you fight him after going through a puzzle full of funny carnivorous plants like those on the Boin Archipelago (ideally there's a quiz format involved and if you get an answer wrong you get attacked by, like, a low level wild bellsprout or carnivine). This one could honestly have been more strategically developed although Shiftree and Sudowoodo were absolutely necessary because a long-nosed creature based on a tengu and a fake tree with an identity crisis are perfect for Usopp. He loves his status conditions and is generally very annoying to go up against Initial team: Lotad, Bonsly, Nuzleaf Rematch Team: Shiftree, Sudowoodo, Amoongus, Ludicolo, Tangrowth, Vileplume Normal/Doctor?? Gym Leader Chopper–This was a difficult choice honestly! I thought about making him a fighting specialist for the kung fu point, but ended up choosing this instead. He's a very young GP and gym leader on a winter island, and he has to split his time between doing house calls with Kureha and his League obligations and the poor boy is *stressed*. Marowak is there because Chopper and his backstory give me Cubone/Marowak vibes. The Sawsbuck is actually not there because of its deer associations; it’s a springtime/cherry blossom Sawsbuck because of Hiriluk’s cherry blossoms, I thought of giving him a Stantler but I think one deer is probably enough for him Initial Team: Spring Deerling, Stufful, Marowak Rematch Team: Mega Audino, Spring Sawsbuck, Blissey, Bewear, Marowak, Alomomola Weather (??) Gym Leader Nami–specializes in double battles with her cast form. Lives on an island kind of similar to Cocoyasi, and she's got her own lighthouse and meteorology lab up on a hill surrounded by tangerine trees. This is extremely strategically fucky and near impossible to program into something functional but I wanted to give her every kind of weather power and Pokemon that could adapt to every field change and hack weather balls at people. Nojiko and Genzo hang around. Currently training a Hippopotas gifted to her by Vivi and working on Sandstorm strategies Initial Team: Castform (Sun), Snover, Ninetales, Castform (Snow) Rematch Team: Castform (rain), Pelipper (drizzle), Ninetales (Drought), Abombasnow (snow warning), Castform (sun), Castform (snow) Ghost Gym Leader Brook–Brook is a touring rock star whose gym is on a barge with a kinda spooky ambiance; the Rumbar pirates work there as live musicians and there's a bar and a big stage set up for concerts. They pull up around the twin capes looking for Laboon around the same time as the player reaches there and are very distressed when he can't find him at first. I kinda debated giving him a toxtricity like Rhyme in SV but that's been done before and Frosslass kinda plays into his ice attacks, so I'm kind of leaving it open ended. His gym's located near the twin capes, and he's a former rock star who's slowed down a bit and taken some time off his career to look more actively for Laboon, who went missing in this world instead of being left behind. Laboon is a Wailmer Brook met years ago that later joins his team after they reunite, by which point he's evolved into a Wailord. Initial Team: Duoblade, Dusclops, Houndstone Rematch Team: Aegislash, Dusknoir, Wailord (Laboon), Polteageist, Frosslass or Toxtricity, Houndstone
Steel Gym Leader Franky– Franky's gym is also on board a ship he built, and he's docked outside a kinda high tech water seven sort of crazy artificial floating island structure. It's very much like water seven–Iceberg and Paulie run the show–and the Franky Family are his gym trainers. I threw in Alolan dugtrio because of the hairstyles and revavroom for the Kurosai FR-U. Metagross is there because I like him having a psychic type to link him to Robin (they're married and live together on Franky's custom houseboat). I thought of giving him a Magnezone but Franky with a Tinkaton just seems very funny and weirdly well-suited to his character Initial Team: Alolan Dugtrio, Excadrill, Revavroom Rematch Team: Alolan Dugtrio, Excadrill, Revavroom, Metagross, Probopass, Tinkaton
Psychic Gym Leader Robin–I tried to give Robin a few Pokemon that were more weird lore/ancient ruin themed without being actual legendaries to fit with her being an archaeologist. She spends a lot of time doing field work (Clover is the region's Pokemon Professor and her mentor; it even plays into the plant naming scheme) on a protected island full of ruins that looks kind of like Skypeia. I'd love for this world to have some ancient lore for her to research and make regular story appearances without the kind of tragedy we get in canon. Initial Team: Medicham, Duosion, Sigilyph, Claydoll Rematch Team: Bronzong, Medicham, Beeheyem, Reuniclus, Sigilyph, Claydoll
Water Gym Leader Jinbei–Honestly it was a bit hard making this one feel uniquely suited to Jinbei? Palafin suits his character best imho, but it was difficult choosing fish that ween’t tied in some other way to other existing fishmen characters. There's no whale sharks yet either :p That being said, Jinbei is a ship captain who works with both the Pokemon League and the Sun Pirates, and brings the player to a Fishman Island equivalent underwater town, giving you either a dive TM or something equivalent to navigate underwater and opening up a whole bunch of new areas for the player to explore. Initial Team: Wishiwashi, Palafin, Swampert, Omastar Rematch Team: Wishiwashi, Palafin, Swampert, Omastar, Dondozo, Tatsugiri
Fire/Kicking??/Culinary-themed Gym Leader Sanji–I feel a bit bad I gave Sanji so many starters when I generally try to avoid that for gym leaders but there's just not that many Pokemon with blaze kick and it's a necessity for him! You meet as he's soft-opening his restaurant in the All Blue equivalent, and going through some growing pains striking out on his own from Zeff (who’s very supportive of his boy's dreams but bad at expressing it). I threw a Clawitzer in because I thought I should give him a seafood item, and Siebold (one of the few Pokemon chefs) has one as his ace in X/Y. His team can kinda be split into kicking pokemon (Cinderace, Blaziken, Tsareena) and food Pokemon (Arboliva, Clawitzer, Garganacl). Zeff has a Stoutland, and the only reason I gave him one is because it more or less has his facial hair. Initial Team: Cinderace, Blaziken, Garganacl, Tsareena Rematch Team: Cinderace, Blaziken, Garganacl, Tsareena, Arboliva, Clawitzer
Zoro is the Champion and Luffy is the final boss, but I'll save them and my chosen Elite 4 members for another time. I'm not going to try and build an evil team, but suffice to say since I'm trying to make this AU a bit more lighthearted, everyone lives and they're all doing good

Probably not quite last-minute Z-A predictions (I mean they’re more wishes than predictions) but I wanted to share my wishlist before leak season begins
Grass starter: Grass/Fairy Meganium
Fire starter: Fire/Steel Blaziken
Water starter: Water/Fighting Inteleon
Time period: 100-200 years after XY (cyberpunk with some greenery)
Male player character: based on Serena
Female player character: based on Calem
Bonus: non-binary/genderless player character (idc they wouldn’t do this they made it possible to be non-binary in GO I’d like to think they can do that in the core series somehow): based on Shauna (I do btw think the the player(s) not chosen should appear as NPCs so idk how this would work. I’d say this is my most ambitious idea out of all of these)
New Megas: Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, Kalosian Meganium, Kalosian Blaziken, Kalosian Inteleon, Goodra, Aromatisse and Slurpuff (because they’re cool Pokémon that deserve special treatment, not because “they suck and should get new forms so we don’t have to look at their ugly (they’re not ugly) faces anymore”), Meowscarada, Quaquaval (bonus points if they give it the massive wings I think Decidueye should have had if it had got a special Terastal form), Armarouge, Ceruledge, Volcanion and Hoopa(?)
Additional new forms: 100% Xerneas and Yveltal, Scarlet Beast Walking Wake and Violet Sword Iron Leaves (because I will not let the fact that the drawings in the books are imagined stop me from thinking the fusions would make these cool trios even cooler if that’s even possible when four of them make up my top 3 favourite Pokémon (sorry Bolt and Crown you two are pretty cool too you’re just not Wake, Leaves, Fire or Boulder)) when trying to put my ideas together in a procreate artwork for some reason I decided to give them signature moves with two effects/gimmicks each. Effect one is that SB Wake’s move defaults to Special but can become Physical “if it would do more damage” while VS Leaves’s move defaults to Physical but can become Special “if it would do more damage”. What I believe I meant with those is if those are their higher attacking stats but what it actually implies to me upon looking at it late at night is that it depends on stuff like the opponent’s defensive stats and anything like Reflect and Light Screen and stuff that would alter the amount of damage done by one type of attack while not altering the amount of damage done by the other type of attack and I’m really overthinking it now. Anyway the second effect is that SB Wake’s move increases to 120% damage in Rain, Sandstorm and Snow but 200% in Harsh Sunlight while VS Leaves’s move increases to 120% damage on Grassy Terrain, Misty Terrain and Psychic Terrain (apart from the fact that it’s a Psychic-type move and anyway gains a boost under Psychic Terrain) and 200% under Electric Terrain. Also I decided the fusions are by default pure Dragon (Wake) or pure Psychic (Leaves) but their abilities are upgraded versions of Protosynthesis and Quark Drive but act like they have the collective types of their entire trios including affecting type matchups allowing for triple weaknesses or triple resistances (I don’t think either combo would have a quadruple weakness/resistance as that would mean all three members of one of the trios would have to have a double weakness/resistance). Also I decided that the unused stones in SV are used for the fusion of these two trios (when did I ever think they weren’t) and the fusions look more like the Paradox Pokémon themselves than their modern-day counterparts (Wake has a slightly longer neck to match Bolt and thinner forearms to match Wake but still mostly matches Fire’s physique (I don’t think that’s the word I was looking for there) while Leaves is more metallic and more glowy plus the stuff meant to look like Terrakion’s brick pattern looks like Boulder’s brick pattern, the neck things look like Leaves’s leaves and the collar matches Crown’s collar (I will admit the two things I prefer about Cobalion are the collar and the neck fluff. I still prefer Crown though). Also for both of them the horns are closer to Wake/Boulder’s horns than Suicune/Terrakion’s horns (although Fire’s banana spikes make up some of SB Wake’s horn and Crown’s golden horns with blue glowy energy bits make up some of VS Leaves’s horns). Honestly, I come up with such cool ideas but I don’t know how to draw it). Never let the person obsessing over the Proto Beasts and Neo Swords who wishes that the fusions could also exist come up with their wishlist for the next game. uhh probably more idk. Oh yeah regional forms for the starters and some others but I think I implied that at least twice already
Bonus changes: terrain update! 100% Xerneas creates a stronger version of Grassy Terrain (similar to Heavy Rain) and Yveltal creates a stronger version of Electric Terrain (similar to Extremely Harsh Sunlight) Grassy Terrain and Electric Terrain made the most sense to me as opposites among the Terrains plus it gives me an excuse to give Leaves a signature move of its primary type to match the rest of the Neo Swords and the Proto Beasts. This results in Leaves requiring a Grass-type version of Psyblade just like how Wake requires Hydro Steam. Fittingly Wake gets a Dragon-type version of Hydro Steam to match
Yes I know the ugly croc would get a Mega if Meowscarada and Quaquaval got them it’s just ugly so I don’t want it to get anything special (still, they got the top two best starters in the Paldean starter trio so it would’ve been too powerful if they hadn’t have put the worst starter in it too in order to balance it out)
So yeah as you can see I’m being really ambitious. I think I might have taken Game Freak’s statement that this was gonna be the most ambitious entry a little too literally
#yeah I sorta made a deal with myself I could talk more about Z-A I just had to mention SV every time#well given that long essay on how I would do the fusions from the books I think it’s fair to say I covered that#I’m not tagging every Pokémon mentioned in this post because that would be ridiculous#but I do think I need to tag the Proto Beasts and Neo Swords as groups because of how much I focused on them#proto beasts#neo swords#pokémon#pokémon legends z-a

Hey friendos, if you’re playing Pokemon Go, maybe give me an add? I’m trying to get all the Vivillon patterns in SV. I’ve got Modern, and I still need Elegant, Icy Snow, Meadow, Monsoon, Ocean, Polar, River, Sandstorm, Savanna, Sun and Tundra. So…almost all of them.
Also I have a Goomy hat, so you should add me just so you can see my cool hat.
Friend code is 5022 7800 4763.

SV's performance issues are weird.
My game runs perfectly fine most of the time. Worst I've ever had out of the water is some chugging during a sandstorm during a Gym Battle. Bad but rather uncommon. Course, this is out of the water as the game does chug if you go around the giant lake area.
... Unless, for some reason, you go onto one of the islands. Then it runs perfectly again. My only guess is that either the coding shits itself in the water due to water being infamously hard to work with or the engine itself doesn't like water battles.
Sad really- The lake is one of the better later game farming spots.

13., 20., and 21., for the video game asks!!
(from this ask)
13. Quick, name the first song from a game that comes to mind
Ooh this one was interesting! I would have thought it'd be a top favourite track but it was Bright Sandstorm from Fire Emblem: Engage, probably because it's really catchy and I was playing with this track on yesterday. (Also it's a great song)
20. A boss you think is really cool
Oh man I love my boss fights. At the moment my brain is consumed by TOTK so Colgera and Ganondorf from this game came to mind first. Other favourites include Zant and Ganondorf from Twilight Princess, SV's final battle and Tales of Zestiria's final battle.
21. A boss that was disappointing
Definitely Tales of Arise's final boss in the main story, I love this game but the final dungeon was a letdown unfortunately. I think the concept of the final boss was fine, however it would have felt more imposing if it was able to speak and was more human. It also felt way too easy.
But I'll give credit where it's due and say the boss fights in the post game were much better than in that final dungeon.
Thank you for the asks! These were fun to answer.

Take Two Ticket, 150 rubies hoặc 150 gems.
1 win: 15/20 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket
2 win: 35/45 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket
3 win: 70/80/90 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket
4 win: 150 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket 150 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket + 25 vials 175 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket
5 win: 250 rubies + 2 standard pack ticket 250 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket + 50 vials 300 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket 350 rubies + 1 standard pack ticket
- Tier 1: Swordcraft, Shadowcraft
- Tier 2: Dragoncraft, Havencraft
- Tier 3: Bloodcraft, Runecraft
- Tier 4: Forestcraft
*** Danh sách những card nên tránh trong Take Two:
* Forestcraft:
* Swordcraft:
* Runecraft:
Hầu hết là card trong combo spellboost:
- Sorcery Cache - Rune Blade Summoner - Fire Chain - Fate's Hand - Conjuring Force - Arcane Enlightenment: Phế ngay cả trong Construct - Dragonbond Mage - Dimension Shift
* Dragoncraft:
* Shadowcraft:
- Curse of Rebirth: cost to, giá trị thấp.
* Bloodcraft:
- Bloodfed Flowerbed: Có thể tốt nếu đúng curve, về gần cuối game thì phế vật. - Limil's Way: ít thấy dùng ngay cả trong Take 2 - Devil of Vengeance: là 1 bị thịt nghĩa đen nếu ko có công cụ control HP.
* Havencraft:
- Devourer of Heavens: countdown quá chậm, effect quá yếu. - Love's Gospel: giá trị thấp so với 1 lá gold quý báu trong Take 2 - Power of Protection: cần điều kiện, buff yếu so với cost.
* Neutral:
- Trail of Light: 2 cost 1 card đổi 1 card, value thấp.

i’m so mad that they finally brought back vivillion in SV (the only other game it’s been in since XY is usum, where scatterbug is an island scan pokémon) only for them to get rid of the one thing that made it cool and unique and incentivised trading with others :(
fancy isn’t even spain’s pattern, it’s marine
Like, holy shit. First, it would've been super easy to just have the patterns change based on either initial location caught or where it is when it evolved—snow areas for Tundra, Meadow out in open grassy areas, Sandstorm out in deserts, etc. Secondly, if they weren't gonna do that they could've at least kept the location so that way you could potentially get different patterns via trade.
AND THIRDLY, there's one town in the game with two different patterned Vivillon hanging out and one of the NPCs is like "the patterns change based on location, I wonder where these two are from?" like they're TRYING to cocktease us with it
EDIT: WAIT EACH FORM STILL HAS ITS OWN DEX ENTRIES IN THE FILES WHEN PREVIOUS GAMES DIDN’T DO THIS BUT THEY’RE UNUSED BECAUSE ONLY THE ONE FORM EXISTS IN SV
WHY
#sorry I just live vivillon a lot and while I love my fancy boy that I evolved it really sucks that that's the only pattern you can get#pokemon#pokemon scarlet and violet#vivillon#pokemon spoilers

Siege of Shar’Mandril Week 4
Read about Week 3 here
Another great week for Antares! Players were a little light on the ground this week, but it was still full of tense games and close calls (and terrible dice). this was our first week at 750 points, meaning some of the bigger toys are starting to become more available!
Scenario 4: Builder Drone
Both sides have dispersed, looking for a buddy drone containing information on a cache of builder tech. Unfortunately for both sides, they both found it at the same time... and more unfortunately a sandstorm is closing in.
Set-up
Scatter terrain, ensure it is relatively dense, a mix of ruins, Forest bases and whatever else you like
Deployment
Both sides deploy half their units. Remaining units enter as normal on turn 1.
Single buddy drone in the centre of the table.
Objectives
Find and retrieve the drone
Game Duration
If one side manages to get the drone off their side of the board, the game immediately ends.
At the end of the 6th turn, and every turn after roll a D6, on 4,5 or 6 the game immediately ends.
If either player is reduced to less than half his starting squads, at the end of the turn roll a D6, on a 1,2,3 the game immediately ends.
If at the end of a turn both conditions are met, the game immediately ends.
Victory Conditions
If one side manages to get the drone off their side of the board, they immediately win.
Otherwise, 1 VP per squad killed.
Scenario special rules:
Ruins: Difficult terrain, RES +2, enterable by Large squads but not vehicles or mounted units.
Blue Crystal Forest: Difficult terrain, RES +2. Failed agility test to enter incurs a pin. A 0 on test to enter incurs a pin and D3 SV0 hits. Plasma shots against targets in the forest gain +1 SV.
Distort Die: Add a distort die into the bag after deployment and for every turn after. (with Ghar player, this would be 2 distort dice).
Buddy drone: As per scenario 6 special rules. infantry unit must move into base to base contact with the drone to capture it. A unit that is destroyed in an assault passes its drone to the assaulting unit. If the unit carrying the drone is destroyed by being shot, it becomes free again.
Free drone moves D6″ in a random direction at the end of every turn.
Sandstorm: At the start of every turn roll 3d10, for the rest of the turn, this is the maximum LoS (in inches) for any unit or model. Shots from beyond this range automatically miss (OH hit on 1s, 2-10 dud shots).
---
We were light on the ground for players, but the Isorians faced off against the C3 is in very bloody, brutal battle, and the Ghar managed to narrowly defeat the Algoryn force as they were mere millimetres from escaping!
We had some terrible dice this week, so I invested in some new dice. We’ll see how lucky they turn out to be tomorrow!
This week was a victory for Team Xiphos (Matt, Tom, Elliot and Cameron). Who managed to take and hold the drone and are now well on their way to digging up the first of the builder tech, and taking overall control of the planet Shar’Mandril. The faction fleets are still duking it out in the sky though, and either side could win...
